As soon as I found out that Drew Barrymore owns Flower Beauty, I practically ran into my nearest beauty store and frantically grabbed all of the products off the shelves. I mean it’s Drew, who in this world isn’t completely in love with her? If she puts her name on something, it must be great. Right?
Sadly, not completely…well I do love some of her other products and I’ll review them soon. The Ultimate Zoom-in mascara was slightly less than awesome. And that’s the problem, it’s truly a good mascara, but it’s not great. It gives nice separation for sure and a decent coating and it is definitely better than nothing…but the fact is, I just wouldn’t recommend it to someone looking for lash magic. I can think of like at least a dozen mascaras that would blow this out of the water.
The other disappointing factor was that this mascara has a really cool sounding feature that turned out to be too good to be true…doubling down on my disappointment. On the top of the lid, there is a twisting mechanism. Flower’s website calls this “revolutionary” a brush that you can twist to adjust to create multiple lash looks. There are three settings, the first is supposed to be for length, the second for volume and the last for curling.
The fact is, while it is pretty fun to play with the twisty cap…it didn’t do much for my lashes. No matter how many different ways I tried using the twister, all I got were mediocre results. I longed for my other mascaras that would actually “revolutionize” my lashes and take them to new heights.
So here’s my grading, I’m sorry Drew…but I’m giving ya girl a C
Like I said, good…not great. And the fact is there are just so many other mascaras that are better. (Check out my review for Roller Lash to see my recent favorite).
