Scalp Care: Living Proof – Restore Dry Scalp Treatment

Living Proof Scalp Treatment

This past month, I have been obsessed with Living Proof’s new scalp treatment ($32 at Sephora). It has been such an incredible addition to my hair care routine, and it was pretty much an instant favorite from day one. So some background on my scalp and why I bought this product, I have a somewhat problematic head ya’ll. I have oily skin and an oily scalp that is also dry (love that for me), and when my scalp gets oily or if I sweat even a little bit, my scalp gets itchy right away. It’s so annoying, I can’t even tell you. The only way I can truly manage my issues is to wash my hair like every day, but that is a big no-no if you want to have healthy long hair. I wanted a product that would health soothe my scalp. Period. I wanted the itchiness to back the hell off and I wanted something that would help me from feeling like I needed to wash my hair every day.

Enter Living Proof’s Restore Dry Scalp Treatment. The very second that I saw this product on their Instagram stories, I purchased. It sounded amazing, a scalp treatment that was a microbiome balancer, clinically proven to soothe and relieve dry scalp issues including flaking, itching and other such issues, yes, please. Living Proof says that it balances the scalp’s microbiome which is the ecosystem of the scalp and if this is restored and balanced, your scalp problems will be gone. Now from my personal experiences with Living Proof (life-changing for the better experiences!), I knew I had to try this out and I am so pleased to say that I am in love with it and my scalp has never been happier.

I use it about 2-3 times a week (after each hair wash) as directed, all you do is part your hair in sections and apply a couple of drops per section and then massage it in. It’s so easy to use and instantly makes my scalp feel calm and soothed for days. Seriously, my scalp now craves this stuff. I never forget to use it because my head literally wants it so much. It just feels so nice right away and that feeling lasts throughout the day as well. I also noticed that it gives me really good volume at the roots, which is insane because my hair is super fine and usually falls flatter than a smashed pancake. When I apply restore dry scalp treatment, I get volume that makes it look like I blew out my hair AND teased it. Yeah, now do you see why I’m so in love?

I also think that it may be contributing to my hair growth. I can’t prove it because I don’t measure my hair’s growth, but I swear, my hair seems like it grew a ton over the last two months. (And that just so happens to be the exact time that I started using restore dry scalp treatment). My hair used to take forever to grow but I do declare, I’ve got some serious growth baby, and nothing else has changed in my routine…no diet changes, same shampoos so maybe there’s something in the water or the air…or it’s gotta be the restore treatment. Talk about a nice added perk, huh? I am beyond sold. If you have any scalp issues I highly recommend giving this a try.

Harry Josh Pro Tools – Pro Makeup & Wave Setting Clips

Harry Josh Wave Clips

These pretty little jade green clips may seem simple, but boy oh boy have they ever made a beautiful difference in my life. I have had the hugest issue with my hair getting in my face while I do my makeup since well, forever. It sure doesn’t help that I have fine hair with lots of baby hairs near my face that just looooove to fly all around and mess up my makeup application. Dealing with this has always been an issue because it wasn’t enough to throw my hair up into a bun to keep it out of my face. The baby hairs always escaped the clips and ended up in my lip gloss. Every. Single. Time. I started using alligator clips several years ago and while they did a great job of keeping my hair away, they left creases in my hair and seemed to pull it down making it flatter than flat. I got Harry Josh’s Setting Clips after watching a video of a professional MUA doing a celeb’s makeup using these. They said they were essential because they kept the hair back, creaseless and did not disturb the volume.

This is true. I am entering these into my Top Shelf, Holy Grail products. Yes, there will be a ceremony, yes there will be candles and chanting and long, ominous robes will be worn by all attendees. The Top Shelf is sacred for a reason because only those who have truly earned their place can reside there. To earn such a coveted position one must be a life-changer. They must exceed expectations to such a length that now the wearer cannot ever bear to be without it again.

Harry Josh Wave Setting Clips truly belong on the Top Shelf ($18 Dermstore). They have CHANGED the way I do my makeup and my hair. No more creasing. No more hair caught in lip products, tangling in eyelashes, and irritating my skin as it dances across my cheeks. The best, best, best part is that it does not flatten my hair. I’m telling you, I have never encountered a product that works like this. Ever.

I can do my regular blow out, get volume for days and then use these clips to keep my hair out of my face during makeup time and then once I’m done, I release my hair and have the same degree of volume as I had right after the blowout. My god. I can’t even handle myself with these anymore. I love them, they gave me my life back people. They gave me the freedom to control the destiny of my routine, no more an I at the mercy of hairs. Halle-freakin-lujah.

Please give these a try if you have hair. You do not know what freedoms and volumes you are missing out on.

Invisibobble – The Traceless Hair Ring

It’s a hair tie. How great could it be? Freaking amazing, it could be freaking amazing. Invisabobbles are said to hold your ponytail or bun without creasing up your hair and let me tell you, that is just the first thing on the long list of amazing things Invisabobble ($7.95 Ulta) will do for your hair.

It doesn’t crease your hair. No matter how long they are left in, no matter how tight you make that pony. (Ok baby lie coming your way: I did find it creased my hair in only one situation, right after a hair wash, when my hair was sopping wet and I put it up into a tight ponytail and didn’t take it down for hours, THEN it creased). It stays in your hair. It doesn’t come loose and start sliding down, deflating your ponytail along with it. This thing stays where you put it, you can trust it, it’s middle name is reliable. It works for ponytails and buns alike and it’s so comfortable for buns especially. It holds your hair up without that usual pull that starts with regular ponytail holders or bobby pins, the invisibobble takes the pressure off your hair and makes the bun or ponytail feel weightless for hours. I used to get the worst headaches from wearing my hair up with regular ponytail holders and bobby pins, I hate that tightness and pressure and it was so bad that I would rarely wear my hair like that and when I did it was only for a couple of hours. (Which ultra sucked because of the creasing that happened with ponytail holders and sometimes even bobby pins too. So imagine this: you’re at work, or out on the town, whatever, you’ve put your hair up in a cute AF, flirty, sexy ponytail and you are ruling that world with your cute hair. But then, a few hours go by and the headache is rising from annoying to painful, what do you do? Two options, take it down and deal with the crease and the stares of pity at your yucky, yucky hair or you pop a pain pill of choice and pretend everything is ok.

That miserable life used to be mine until fate would have it and I got myself a taste of delicious pain-free, crease-free ponytails and buns that rule my world. So stop living in the past, it’s 2019 and no one lives with bad hair ties anymore. No one.

Living Proof – Prime Style Extender

Living Proof Prime Style Extender

Living Proof has truly been slaying my January and I am here for it. My newest favorite is a style extender that did the job of 10 men and it did it better than they ever did. Yeah, I’m beyond hooked. The style extender took the place of several different styling products, from an air styling cream to a volumizing spray, to a leave-in conditioner and even a dry shampoo. Yes, Living Proof rolled all those into one, added a beautifully fresh scent to die for and birthed the Prime Style Extender ($20 for 5oz Sephora). Aka my new can’t live without BFFL. Yes, for life. I die for this product, no joke. I’d also kill for it if necessary. It’s the best air styler I have ever come across and I am obsessed with finding good air styling products. Why you might ask, well two reasons. 1. I’m lazy and hate blow drying my hair, it takes forever and my arm strength is lacking. 2. I am trying my best to atone for all my years of daily straightening so I’m doing everything in my power to bring health back to my strands. I try to blow dry as little as possible so a good air styler is absolutely key.

Thankfully Prime Style Extender entered my life and has given me the best air styles ever. It seriously allows me at least an extra day of fresh style (and this is HUGE for me as I have crazily oily hair, I’m talking if I don’t blow dry it, I get one day of style before it turns greasy and weighted down), with Prime Extender I can go at least an extra two full days with gorgeous volume that I used to only be able to get with the blow dryer. It also makes my hair look so much shinier, it controls my frizz issues and did I mention it smells like heaven. I would almost use it just for the smell alone, it’s that good. Another huge perk is how easy and quick it is to use. My routine with it is to first put in my leave-in conditioner(s), my scalp treatment and then this. I just put about a quarter size amount in my palms, rub them together and disperse in my hair, starting at the roots and working my way down to the ends. It seriously takes me like a couple of minutes and I’m onto my day with fantastic hair that just won’t quit.

So if you’re having issues with your blow dryer and thinking of taking a break to “to figure things out”, give Prime Extender a try. After all, it’s not cheating if it’s just a break right? JK – Actually, if anything, I’m so reliant and in love with Prime Extender, it’s like I cheat on it with my blow dryer every now and then. Ok, yikes, I need to find some more wholesome examples for next time. But it is true that ever since Prime Extender came into my life, I’d say I use my blow dryer like 80% less. I literally only pull it out for V special occasions. Oh and something I forgot to mention entirely, I also use this when I blow dry sometimes too, it’s a wonderful primer for my other blow dry products and I’ve found that it makes my hair dry faster, hold styles better and of course, it keeps my volume for longer and helps extend the time before I need dry shampoo. Win, win and win yet again for Living Proof.

Skincare Favorites

Dr Jart – Ceramidin Cream

Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream

It’s not quite fair to say that this is a January favorite, because it’s really an eternal favorite. Ever since I first tried it in Sephora, I knew I could not live without it. This is especially true for January though because the changing weather has shown me what Ceramidin Cream ($48 Sephora) is truly capable of. In Southern California, January is typically shockingly hot, like every since I can remember it’s usually gotten to be around 90 degrees during the first month of the year. I don’t mean to complain and I’m not at all because obviously I realize that there are people experiencing actual weather problems out there. But I just want to say that this January especially, Dr Jart’s Ceramidin Cream has been put to the test.

It’s been especially hot, it’s also been pretty cold, it’s been moist and it’s been dry. Now in the past (I now call all prior time before I found Ceramidin Cream the Dark Ages), this type of up and down, changing extremes of weather would cause my skin to have a royal fit. I’m proud to say that Ceramidin Cream broke that crazy cycle and has kept my skin steadily smoothed, moisturized and downright happy, no matter what lunacy mother nature tries to throw at it.

I’ve already posted an in-depth review of Dr Jart’s Ceramidin Cream that goes super into detail on how it works and the amazing things it does, so to just quickly summarize for you, it helps hold in moisture by strengthening and rebuilding our delicate (and easily damaged) skin barrier. Think of the skin barrier like a brick wall and the mortar (definitely just googled that) that holds them together is like ceramides. When we age we lose ceramides so we want to do everything we can to help them out and put them back into our skin. Which is exactly what happens when you use a great product like Ceramidin Cream. You’ll see and feel wonderful results right away. I have never seen my skin so calm, fresh and glowy and the biggest difference of all – texture. My god, I didn’t even know it was possible for my skin to be this smoothe. It also looks amazing under makeup, it smoothes like primers only dream of. I’m telling you, run (or power walk at least) to the nearest Sephora and get this in your life stat.

Glow Recipe – Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask

Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleep Mask

You guys. I wish so desperately that I could tell you about this next favorite in person. It’s such a fun, pleasurable product. Like all of your senses will be getting a treat when you experience it and on top of all that, it’s a rocking skincare product that will seriously up your skincare game. Watermelon Sleeping Mask ($22 for 1oz Sephora) by Glow Recipe has it all. Cute pink color, perfectly sweet watermelon scent that’s not too sugary and has just the right amount of freshness added with the light fruity smell. Its texture is like a soft, watery, jelly-like texture that is unbelievably fast absorbing. The Watermelon sleep mask has hyaluronic acid for moisturization, AHAs for exfoliation and of course, watermelon extracts for that incredible smoothing effect. The best part, it does all this while you sleep so you get to wake up with the most perfect looking (and feeling!) skin with basically zero effort.

Yeah, we’re now onto the best part. You know those nights where you are just dog tired and can barely make it to your bed? Where taking off your clothes feels like an impossible task, let alone getting to your nighttime skincare routine. Or what about the druncho nights, where it’ll be a full-on miracle if you happen to even get to a makeup wipe and take off your makeup? And there’s also the early dating nights, where you want to take off your makeup, but you don’t want to spend an hour on skincare before coming to bed? This is where Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Sleeping Mask really comes to shine. For those nights when the full-blown routine just isn’t going to happen, you can rest assured that you can still treat your skin to a luxe moisturizing, soothing and exfoliating treatment that is literally done in one quick step. And you’ll be confident that you will wake up to skin that definitely looks like you just applied your full skincare routine the night before.

All you do is open the lid, scoop out a little of the gel and smooth it onto your skin. (First, take your makeup off you heathen). And that’s it. Give it a minute or two to sink in and bam! You’ve got pillow proof skincare that you don’t have to worry one wit about. (No smearing all over your pillow, hair, and sleeping partner).

I have been loving this so much, it’s made bedtime so much easier for me, it’s nice knowing that you can give yourself a break if you just can’t get to the full-blown routine. It’s freeing and makes everything less stressful. I also sometimes use it in my regular nighttime routine as well because I love the way it feels and looks the next day so, so much. I’m also quickly becoming addicted to the watermelon scent, it’s glorious. I’m actually going to end this right here so I can go smell it…(you know I’m not kidding).

Colore Science – Sunforgettable Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Brush-On Sunscreen

I have said it before, I will say it again: If there is anything you should be doing for your skin, it’s protecting it from the sun. Seriously, it’s pointless to go out and spend all this money on moisturizers and special serums if you’re not first and foremost, protecting your skin from the evil, evil sun. The sun is after all the root of the greatest evil that can be afflicted on our skin: premature ageing. I love Colore Science’s brush on sunscreen ($65 Colorescience.com) so much because it makes wearing sunblock effortlessly easy. You just brush it on, swipe, swirl, and you’re done. You can apply it alone, over moisturizer, over your makeup, and best of all, it’s super easy to reapply throughout the day. Just grab it from your purse, pocket, whatever, and brush on for a quick second. You don’t even need a mirror. I’ve done a review previously where I go into detail and I’ll leave that right here. If you’re looking for a simple way to get more sun protection in your life, you’ve got to check it out. In my review, I talk a lot about the different ways to wear it and also mention why it, out of a lot of the other brush on sunscreen products, really stands out. Be careful with brush-on powder products in general, they can quickly go very, very wrong, but thankfully for you, I’ve done the dirty work and found the best.

So do it for the sake of your skin, it’s the only one you’ve got. It’ll be the best investment you’ve made, protecting your skin and keeping it youthful and cancer-free. There are no excuses for not wearing sunscreen and Sunforgettable makes that process something that transcends skincare and also ventures into the makeup category because it has such a beautiful look on the skin. So for the love of all that is melanoma free, go get some. Right the hell now.

Base and Finishing Products

Dior – Capture Dreamskin Fresh & Perfect Cushion Broad Spectrum SPF 50

Dior Dreamskin

Top of the line skincare and a perfecting light-coverage base all in one? I’ll take 5. I have been loving, love, loving this product. It’s never been easier to perfect your skin and nourish it all at the same time. This cushion feels as incredible as it looks on the skin and it lasts all freaking day. I’ve never found a light coverage foundation/tinted moisturizer that works as well as Dreamskin Cushion ($82 Sephora), it’s such a beautiful level of coverage that brightens your skin and makes it look glowy and healthy, it’s incredible. It doesn’t fade or start creasing or getting super smeary like so many other tinted moisturizers tend to do, and it certainly does not wear off either, which is a major problem with most light coverage products I have run into. Now it is important to note that I have oily, combo skin so that could definitely be a contributing factor to those other products not working great on my skin.

I have a full review coming out soon, so I’m going to keep this a mini for you all. Trust me, Dreamskin is incredible. If you are looking for a light coverage foundation or tinted moisturizer, give this a try. If you’re looking for a skincare product that just so happens to give your skin a beautiful layer of light coverage and a healthy glow, give it a try. If you want some beauty and happiness in your life, give IT A TRY.

Volition – Oil-Control Mattifying Mist

Volition Mattifying Mist

It’s a liquid that works as an oil blotting paper. It defies nature, it’s the unstoppable wildcard, and I had to have it. The claims are that it will blot your oil and leave you with a matte, powder-fresh face. After lots of testing on my super oily and combo skin, the results are in and they reported a wild success. I have the worst problems with oily skin ya’ll, it’s so frustrating because I don’t just have straight oily skin, I have combo skin. And when I say combo, I don’t just mean like it’s a little mix of dry and oily, I mean my skin goes to the extremes of the spectrum. I get intense dryness, complete with dry patches and flaking if I don’t treat it right, and the oiliness can be out of this world greasy. So here’s why I was so intrigued by this product, it’s a liquid. I hate piling on extra powder to cover the oil, for one it’s gross and the texture at the end of the day is wack. For two, it’s really not a good look unless you’re super careful and for three, it has a tendency to straight-up ruin the makeup beneath. So I thought a liquid spray that would mattify my skin while not drying it out sounded too good to be true. Fortunately, by the grace of the makeup gods, it’s as true as the day you were born.

I found that this works best when applied in conjunction with blotting papers if you want a completely mattified look, but if you want a natural look with a little bit of glow, you’ll probably be fine with just the spray alone. It’s incredible, like black magic status good. If I’m going out and about I MUST have it in my bag for “blotting”. I can’t even tell you how nice it is to simply spritz my face and have the oiliness is gone and a refreshed face as well. I feel like while it absorbs the oils, it also moisturizes the dry areas and refreshes the rest of my makeup. It also works as a light setting spray and prolongs the wear of my makeup, including the eyes, which are especially problematic for me oiliness wise. I have super duper oily eyelids so Volition’s Oil-Control Mist ($29 Sephora) is a god-send here. While you can blot and re-powder your face, eyelids are a totally different story and when my lids started creasing and the eyeshadow would basically evaporate, I was well, shit out of luck. Until now. Now, all I need is to grab the Oil-Control Mist and spray and bam, eyeshadow is locked in place. I can’t even tell you how epic this is for me.

TBH I don’t even know how it does it, every time I use it I feel like it’s magic and I get massive Harry Potter Vibes. #Ravenclawsrule

Volition says it’s got a natural humectant powder which hydrates the skin while absorbing excess oil and it also has a special amino acid complex that promotes a healthy pH level on the skin and last but not least, they put rose water in that helps with inflammation and redness.

All I know is that this has now become a full-on staple in my makeup routine and in my touch-ups too. I die over how quick, easy and effective this is and I can’t imagine ever being without this wonderful gem.

The Eyes Have it – Fav Mascaras

Caution Roller Lash Paradise Mascara

If You Want Volume to the Extreme: Hourglass – Caution Extreme Lash Mascara

Hourglass Caution

I love this so much. It’s quicker than quick become one of my all-time favorite mascaras. If I want a bold, dramatic lash moment, I def reach for Caution ($29 Sephora). Honestly, this mascara is everything a mascara should be. It looks amazing, it’s buildable as hell and lasts for a long time without smudging. If you want drama, drama, drama and the fullest lashes without falsies, check it the frick out.

If You Seek Curl, Separation and Hold: Benefit – Roller Lash

Benefit Roller Lash

On the one hand, I want to say that Benefit Roller Lash ($25 Sephora) will give you natural-looking lashes, but what I mean by that is, it makes your lashes look like what we all wish they could be naturally. It’s like with Roller Lash, they will be long, full and volumized, separated and doll-like. So it’s natural in that your lashes will be separated beautifully, there won’t be a clump insight, but it’s also unnatural as in, you won’t believe your lashes are your real lashes. I’m sorry, even I’m confused, bottom line: Roller Lash is for anyone who wants amazing lashes that will keep a curl all day, be volumized and full as hell, be lengthened and do all of that without so much as a clump in sight. You can read my review here for more on how this will change your lashes life.

If You Want The Best Bang for Your Buck: L’OREAL – Voluminous Lash Paradise

Lash Paradise Loreal

Yes, I finally got on the Lash Paradise ($9.99 Ulta) train and I don’t think I’ll be getting off anytime soon. I’ll keep this one short and simple, Lash Paradise will give you a ton of volume. A ton. I couldn’t believe it when I first tried Lash Paradise, the volume was pretty much just as good as any high-end mascara out there. I’d have to say that it’s one of the best drugstore mascaras I have ever tried, and I am just all-around in love with this mascara. I am still trying it out and making up my mind, but I’ll say, I find myself reaching for it again and again and I keep finding myself further impressed with it. If you want high-end voluminous drama to the max, grab this. And one quick tip, don’t grab the matching lash primer, you don’t need it.

Lips, Lips, Lips

Bite Beauty – Line & Define Lip Primer

Bite Beauty Lip Primer

I love all things Bite Beauty and my newest love is their Lip Primer. I hate having to touch up my lipstick, hate it. I want to swipe it on and not think twice about whether or not it’s fading or smearing off.

Bite’s Lip Primer ($22 Sephora) extends the life of your lipstick by hours, it also enhances your initial application. You can line your lips with it to help ensure your application is precise and also ensure that your lipstick doesn’t start venturing outside the lines. You can also fill in your entire lip area to give yourself a super smoothed, most long-lasting lipstick application of your life. It’s a wonderful product that anyone who wheres lipstick should have. Huge bonus fact: if you are prone to dry lips (like me – high fives!), you will love this. In fact, you may find that with Bite’s Lip Primer, you can wear lipsticks that you previously had to stay at least 10 feet away from. Lip Primer keeps your lips moisturized and smooth like nothing else. No chapstick can touch it. A lip mask could be more moisturizing sure, but try putting lipstick over a juicy lip mask. Good luck. The miracle of this Lip Primer is how moisturizing, yet smoothing it is. And you can wear anything over it, gloss, all the way to the fiercest liquid lipstick you can find. Oh, and it smells minty to boot! #itsalovestorybabyjustsayyes

Pat McGrath Labs – MatteTrance Lipstick

Are you ready for the most gorgeous lipstick of your life? You’re not, I assure you. Pat McGrath blessed us beyond what anyone ever deserved with this lipstick and I am just so grateful to have found it. From the gorgeous, immaculate lipstick tube, to the gorgeous lipstick itself. My god, there aren’t words to do it justice. I have found this to be one of the very best lipsticks I have ever used. Ever. It’s beyond perfection. The moisturization, the long-lasting power, it’s unreal. It looks so beautiful and fresh for hours and it’s comfortable, my goodness is it ever. Honestly, if I had to throw out all my lipsticks and I could only have one, I’d pick MatteTrance ($38 Sephora).

Eyeshadow Palettes Galore

Pat McGrath Labs – MTHRSHP Subliminal Dark Star

Pat McGrath Dark Star Eyeshadow

It’s Pat McGrath ya’ll. No introduction necessary, you know it’s going to be amazing. I don’t even need to tell you about the decadent, glorious pigments, the buttery soft perfection that is the texture, the staying power-all night, into the next day. The bendability, the ease of use. It’s foolproof. This palette is, of course, wonderful for pros and experienced makeup users, but where it really shines is in the hands of beginners. The quality is so good that you can literally do no wrong (I mean so long as it’s being applied to the eyes and not used in some purpose that it’s not designed for…). It’s like magic the way it applies, and it’s so quick too. Just a few swipes on, a little blending and you’ve got a masterpiece on your hands (eyes). If you’re new to makeup and struggling with eyeshadow, please, please, please give a Pat McGrath palette a try. It will restore your faith in eyeshadow and make you feel like a true master. And if you’re highly experienced in makeup, well, how can you call yourself a makeup connoisseur if you don’t have a Pat McGrath palette? (The only viable reason can be the price in which I suggest you go sell your blood, triple mortgage your house if need be, just get your hands on some Pat McGrath. I cannot stress this enough.

So the reason I put Dark Star ($55 Sephora) on my January Fav’s list is not just because of the amazing quality, it’s also because these particular shades pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me expand my artistic ability and confidence with eyeshadows.

The dark blue-grey, midnight blue and dark, rich purple were incredible for a new, gorgeous take on smokey eyes. They took the smokey eye look to the next level and made me feel so sophisticated with their unique colors. (Basic smokey bronze who?). I also love the rich golden shades. One is super striking, a rich, gleaming, jewellery type of gold and the other is more neutral with just a hint of golden shimmer. And then there’s the color that really was instrumental in pushing me beyond my usual levels of comfort. It’s called Interstellar and it is the most gorgeous, deep, rich, out of this world shade of blue. Honey, honey, honey, I never thought I’d be able to rock blue eyeshadow until now. Now, I freaking strut my blue shadow with confidence, because this blue creates the most insanely gorgeous looks. It will rock your world and open it up to new horizons that I promise, you so desperately need. And ps, the packaging is unreal.

Kevyn Aucoin – NUDEPOP

Kevyn Aucoin Nudepop

I love Nudepop so much that I have kept in it the original cardboard box that it came in. It’s precious to me. I keep it close and gaze upon it throughout the day, much like Gollum and his precious ring. #whoknewgollumwassorelatable #dontjudge #lotrnerd

I have been loving this palette for everything from everyday neutral looks, to super smokey nights, to full glam with a glitter moment lewks. There are so many looks you can create with Nudepop ($57 Sephora) and I promise you, all of them will be stunners. I love the cool tones in the mauve and lavenders, the gorgeous purples, the rich warm rose pink shimmer and the pink shimmer. It’s unfair to call the shimmer shades just a shimmer, they are the perfect blend of shimmer bordering on glitter, but it’s done just right. Sometimes a shimmer just doesn’t cut it and you want a glitter moment, but you don’t want to look like a disco-fever contestant, am I right? Nudepop will give you just what you’ve been dreaming of and then some. Check it the heck out and be ready to fall head over heels.

The Good Life (Style)

Health and Happiness

HUM Nutrition – Collagen POP – Premium Marine Collagen + Vitamin C Skin Boost

HUM Nutrition Collagen POP

So I got into collagen last summer, admittedly because it was trendy. Everyone was doing it and there was a lot of raving going on so I had to find out for myself. Now, this is a health-related product and I am not a doctor so I absolutely will not be doling out health advice. The only thing I will do is talk about my experience and what I’ve seen and felt. If you are considering anything health-related, please talk to your doctor. I always try to talk to mine and get their advice when it comes to nutrition and supplements, it’s cool to be able to check in with an expert and be like, “Hey, so this new fad, should I jump on it, or naw?”, and then your Dr. can explain the science of it and whether or not you need it in your life. #learning #doctorsrule

I took collagen in powder forms, starting with products that were flavored and designed to go well with coffee. I noticed personally that my joints felt better after the collagen and that if I stopped taking it, after a few days my joint pain would start coming back. (I have numerous issues with my knees and shoulders due to years of dance). Did I notice any other changes in my body? Honestly, not really. I could argue that my skin is brighter and more glowy, but I have been constantly trying new skincare so I can’t say for sure which product made the difference.

All I know is that my lil knees and shoulders happen to feel better with collagen and that is enough for me.

I have been loving Collagen POP from Hum Nutrition ($12 Sephora) for one very simple reason: it tastes fantastic.

I haven’t found much luck in a collagen powder that isn’t made to be mixed in with coffee. I’ve tried lots of fruit and berry flavors and so far it’s all been one big pile of yuck. I am super picky with foods and can’t eat or drink something that is gross to me. I just can’t do it, the will power is not there and never has been. So no matter how good something is for me, if it doesn’t taste delicious, it’s not happening.

So for months, the only way I could get my collagen was my coffee. I found one brand that makes a few flavors that work like a creamer for coffee and they are amazing, but, I don’t always want coffee. I wanted a way to get collagen that didn’t also come with a caffeine high. Thankfully, I found Collagen POP at Sephora and I’ve never looked back.

Collagen Pop is also super convenient, it comes in a small container that you could easily put in your purse and inside are these little tablets that dissolve in water. All you do is pop a tablet in some water and wait for it to dissolve. It tastes great, like a light, sparkling berry flavor. I find that I crave it in the afternoons (when I usually start getting a fruit/sugar craving). It’s fantastic for me because I can’t have any sugar (IBS/extremely sensitive stomach for the win) and fruit gives me stomach pain that feels like a gut punch over and over again, so it’s nice to fill that craving with something healthy that just so happens to taste like candy. So if you’re considering the collagen train, hop on with a tasty, easy, and fun product. #askadocfirst #notadoctor

Body Care: The Hands Edition

Sephora – Rose Hand Balm

Sephora Rose Hand Balm

I have always hated putting lotion on my hands. The greasy feel that gets on everything you touch, the way the lotion gets all slimy anytime you wash your hands and the gross lotioney smell. No thanks.

My poor hands have suffered greatly because of my high maintenance issues with lotions. I can’t use body lotions on my hands because they are usually a little too heavy and greasy and the smell. If it’s going to be on my hands, I’m going to be smelling it all the time so it needs to be an amazing scent.

I have tried lots of hand lotions over the years and never really fell in love with one enough to start being a regular hand lotion wearer, until (luckily for my ever-cracking, dry hands) now.

I got Sephora’s Rose hand balm ($5 Sephora) on a whim, without even trying it because of the cute little pink tube it comes in and even though usually I chastise myself for buying on impulse, in this instance, I’m so glad it happened. I found a product that while it’s simple to some, just a hand cream, to me, it’s made a huge difference in the health of my hands. My hands used to be dry on the regular and in extreme weather, cracking and prone to bleeding knuckles. It was gross and annoying, but I was used to it.

Thankfully, things have changed for the better. I love wearing my hand cream now, Rose hand balm is so lightweight and fast-absorbing, but still richly moisturizing at the same time. It does not feel even a hint of greasy and it dries down super quickly. It also smells incredible. I usually hate floral scents oddly enough, but this balm just gets it right. The scent is so refreshing and lovely. It smells just like when you walk past a lovely yard of roses and stop to smell. It seriously is exactly like that. It’s not overly sweet, it’s not too heavy of a scent, it doesn’t mix a ton of florals and get complicated. It’s the just simple, delicious, lovely rose smell that we all love to stop for so much.
